Your outcome
Create a learning folder, record your computer's RAM and reopen the saved note. Each step gives you one action, a check and a recovery path. Follow at your own pace while switching between this lesson and Windows.
You need Windows, File Explorer and Notepad. No course account, email address, model installation or paid app is required. This exercise does not change drivers or security settings. Windows labels may vary; pause at unfamiliar results instead of guessing.
Before you start
A folder holds files. A text file holds plain writing. Its location tells you where to find it later. Use your own Documents folder; keep application folders and other people's work separate.
1. Make a home for your notes
Do Open File Explorer > Documents. Right-click an empty area, choose New > Folder, and name it AI Unchained Learning. Open it and create a second folder named Notes inside.
Check You see Notes inside AI Unchained Learning.
Fix Open the learning folder before creating Notes. If either folder exists, use it and keep the existing work. If writing here is blocked, choose a personal location you are permitted to use and record it.
2. Open a plain note
Do Open Start, search Notepad, and open a new note or tab. Type these labels on separate lines:
Windows version: Processor: System type: Installed RAM: Still unknown:
Check Notepad contains five labels ready for your observations.
Fix Use a new note and leave existing documents intact. Plain text is enough; no special layout is needed.
3. Find this computer's values
Do Search Start for About your PC, or open Settings > System > About. Find processor, installed RAM and system type under device information. Find Windows edition and version under Windows information.
Switch to Notepad with Alt+Tab or the taskbar icons. Fill in the labels. Record System type explicitly: x64-based processor, ARM-based processor, or unknown.
Check Your values came from this computer, not a guess from its brand or appearance.
Fix Mark missing fields unknown. Do not copy device IDs, product IDs, serial numbers or account names. You only need the listed technical fields.
4. Save where you expect
Do In Notepad, choose File > Save As. Open Documents > AI Unchained Learning > Notes. Name the file hardware.txt and save. If it already exists, keep it and use hardware-practice.txt.
Check Your note is in Notes. Remember the filename. If Notepad adds the text extension automatically, verify the actual name rather than adding a second .txt.
Fix Check the folder in the save dialog. A file saved elsewhere is not lost, but you need its actual location. Do not overwrite an existing note to match the sample.
5. Prove you can find it again
Do Save and close only the practice note. In File Explorer, open your learning folder, then Notes. Find and open the file you saved.
Check The same labels and values appear. Opening it from File Explorer confirms where it lives; a recent-files list alone does not.
Fix Look in the location you chose in Save As. If the name is unclear, use File Explorer > View > Show > File name extensions. Keep your work; do not delete files while searching.
6. Make one useful distinction
Do Add this sentence in your own words, then save again: "RAM is working memory; storage is where files are kept." Keep free storage and graphics memory on separate lines from RAM when using the readiness guide.
Check You can explain why a file's download size is not all the memory needed to run it.
Fix A 386 MB model file still needs a runtime, working memory and an interface. Downloading successfully and running successfully are different checks.
Check your work
- My note is saved in a location I can explain.
- I reopened it from File Explorer.
- Values came from my computer; missing details say unknown.
- I distinguish installed RAM from storage.
- A copy I share would exclude personal identifiers.
What this sample establishes
You practiced the course's Do / Check / Fix method and saved a useful starting record. You have not installed or run an AI model; your note is not proof of local AI compatibility.
The readiness guide adds GPU, free-storage and evidence checks. Low-memory operation remains unverified. Mac setup is deferred. Keep your note for later model choices.
